I've been waiting for you to post Moshe but I can wait no longer.
Anyone remember Kree Harrison?

I have to say I hadn't until members on this forum were discussing the 2013 American Idol series. I only watched the final that year and that was the last time I did. Both the Winners and Kree's debut singles flopped, Kree wasn't signed, then seemingly nothing.
In April I read that Kree had a debut album finally coming some 3 years on. I immediately thought of you Moshe who had championed her journey.
I missed seeing the actual release in July and it has debuted. Kree Harrison's THIS OLD THING (Plaid Flag Records) made a debut at No.28 selling 900 copies. It just shows how an artist can quickly go off the radar when you think 14.3 million viewers tuned into the 2013 Idol Final.

So what of the 13 track album. Its funk-filled country/blues . Just one slight misstep with Tr 6 Something in the Middle .
The rest is good to very good to outstanding. This easily goes into my Top 5 of the year with Track 10 "Your Whiskey" one of the tracks of the year.

Sounds promising, Livewirer. I look forward to listening. I had just about forgotten about her in the intervening years.

Was she on in the same year as Alaina was on? Alaina has a not bad EP out

Wonder if BBC Radio 2 have been looking at Moshe's post. They have made this their ALBUM of the Week. I can't get into it yet. It's tagged as country on iTunes but the UK Official Chart Company have not included it in the Country chart where Ward Thomas are #1 with their last album FROM WHERE WE STAND (78 weeks on the chart). The Aerosmith front man made a debut at No.67 on the Top 100 (1,400 sales).

I also agree that the lyrics are excellent (as expected) but I just don't like the backing and production - I think the songs are spoiled by too much going on in the background (but that's just my humble opinion.................)

I'm with you Smudger. I bought 12 STORIES CD the day it was released but haven't bought the new one yet. It will be reviewed in Country Music People finally in August. The physical copy is a cardboard sleeve with a fold out sheet with lyrics. The reviewer had to buy it as wasn't sent. The UK promotion for it hasn't been that great and has fallen away regarding UK sales. Radio DJs don't seem to buy music unless it is sent or they request tracks to play. I notice in American (where it is now #36 Country albums) that its second week sales were about the same as 12 STORIES despite her being with Warner Bros. When she went on tour with Eric Church and Jennifer Nettles 2 years ago it seemed to give her album a big push.

I find it amazing that record labels at times can't even be **** to send out copies for review & airplay!
I think the alobum has the potential to do a lot more as it is quite a comerial sound, if it were given the right promotion.

Another new album out is "WE THE PEOPLE" by Country Rapper BIG SMO. I got about half way through the title cut then ran out into the night naked. It sounds like a Trump speech! I won't be going back to listen for more

I have just been checking out this album & am very pleasantly surprised! Mellow, bluesy country. Great voice, a touch of Rita Coolridge but something unique. Very very nice. Thanks for alerting me to this one, Livewirer!

Your not wrong there Kev. I downloaded just 3 tracks from the Marie Osmond the rest wasn't that great from the 5 STAR CMP rated album.
Elizabeth Cook's new album I downloaded tracks from. Think was her only Country charting album to date. Recommended to BBC only to be told it was awful. Country Music People's Paul Riley gave it 5 STARS saying it was "probably EC's least country album but it is also her BEST..a dark trip that some people including this critic will love"

I think Keith Greentree's Rodeo Norfolk show is a good barometer. He also gets stuff sent by Duncan Warwick (CMP's Editor). Chuck Cusimano still being played on the show. Cyndi Lauper's got mixed reactions and one listener complained about too many Honky-tonk tracks played together. Beyonce's "Daddy Lessons" received complaints. A DJ just can't please everyone.

Jake Worthington's new single is out "How Do You Honky Tonk". I think it's brilliant and expect it's up your lane Kev!.
There will be others that hate it that love the current mainstream (POP, hip-hop, rap, Rock, R'n b, void of steel & fiddle but sung with a country accent)

A big favourite with Country Music People & Duncan Warwick. Think they're trying to get Ags for support for Ponderosa Aces in 2017 at The Borderline. Another artist ignored by the BCMAward commitee.

A pleasure, As previously said you were the first person I thought of when Kree Harrison's debut came to light! Is it sad that i remember Forum posts from 3 years ago.
In answer to your other question no it was not the Idol year of Lauren Alaina. That was actually the first year I tuned in when the winner was Scotty McCreery with Lauren runner up. Both had very big debut sales of their albumsand Scotty's went Platinum. Scotty got dropped from UMG label and is now promoting his book. Lauren Alaina's singles have been very hit and miss. It wouldn't surprise me if she got dropped. The CMA gave her every chance bringing her across to the UK to build a fanbase thanks to C2C.
Kree has an official video for THIS OLD THING. She must have written it for the pair of us but I don't feel inclined to dance naked in the street to it, just yet LOL

O yeah, that was a weak AI year! Alaina & Scotty. None too impressed with either.

Back to Big Smo thing, I just don't get the appeal.
A more appealing Country Rap act is Colt Ford, though I do not like many of his songs.

But this one I liked a lot & it is pretty country, too!

Did you watch Republican National Convention in Cleveland last week?
It was highly entertaining. A sea of cowboy hats being waved when Senator Ted Cruz walked onto the stage.

Country artist Ayla Brown sang the National Anthem, she's coming to the UK BLOG POST

“Let Me Hear You Say ‘Trump Yeah!’”
Listen to Chris Janson’s Remix of C2C 2013 superstar Tim McGraw's “Truck Yeah” who treated—or mistreated (depending on your political affiliation) viewers to the version.

As "country fans" shouldn't we be getting behind Trump?
It was a week that Democrats (Americana fans) were probably reaching for their Gretchen Peters, Mary Chapin, Rosanne Cash and Margo Price albums!

I'm not sure if Wesley Michael Hayes is on your Amazon Prime catalog Moshe :?:
If so you may want to Get On Board the “Trump Train” available on UK iTunes

Don't understand this - why wouldn't Keith G play Chuck Cusimano? It's damn fine traditional country music: I think I've probably contacted the show about this artist and others I've discovered online more than Duncan! He plays some, he leaves others out. Keith's a good bloke, I think he should replace the idiot Bob Harris!

You not keen Kev? I am ok with some of his music but then when he displays this liking for some absolute rubbish I feel like turning off.

Bob Harris? irritates the poop out of me! Spends too much time playing bland Americana and pop country. I don't bother listening to him anymore.
