The Cross Country Trip Game

Postby Moshe » Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:30 am

The object of this game is to Travel from the East Coast of the USA to the west Coast via any route utilising song titles with place names in the title. Ideally the place should be either in the same state or the next state, & not more than two states away from the last song title.

This could prove a fruiteful & enjoyable- & very cheap- musical armchair journey across the USA
You may wish to have your atlas with you when playing this game.

I'll kick off with song number one

I'll Kick off with WHOEVER's IN NEW ENGLAND- REBA McENTIRE

I like this game :D.

New England covers six states - ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England ).
So I'll pick this one.....

Nice one, Spacey
I was struggling with song titles in New England & New York. To make the game easier, the rules allow for son gs which refer in the lyrics to an apropriate destination as long as this is highlighted by the player in their entry
Hence, my next choice is KING OF THE ROAD by ROGER MIller, which includes the line
"Midnight train
Destination Bangor, Main"

May I suggest to all who are looking in - let's not rush to the West Coast - Moshe has come up with a great idea - let's meander and enjoy the music along the way.

I agree, Spacey. we can have a leisurely ramble around the USA
I couldn't think of many songs in the region- my brain was blocked! Please Come To Boston is such a gorgeous song!

I recall ages ago I had a cassette tape (tells you how long ago it was!) with a song I'd recorded from the radio called "New York City Cowboy". I can't recall the singer. Has anyone heard of it??

Going north up the coast from Boston brings you to ... Scarborough. This version is played on an appalachian hammered dulcimer in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, so it's country.

Before we leave the East coast here's a nod to Rhode Island by way of a Rhodes scholar who is on road.

One from the alt side of country, New York, New York by Ryan Adams. Filmed two days, or one full business day, on the last weekend that the twin towers stood.

There's loads of covers of this song but I chose this one as a nod to Wilma Lee who passed on last week.
